Head pressing is a condition where your dog pushes its head against the wall for no particular reason. This indicates a damage in the nervous system. This condition is caused by  a number of reasons including damage to the forebrain and thalamus parts of the brain, poisoning,protozoan migration to the brain, etc.

The mechanical vectors are Ticks and Tse Tse fly.

Symptoms­

Head pressing can be caused by neurological or metabolic imbalance. symptoms include:-


  • Circling
  • Constant pacing
  • Seizures
  • Staring at walls
  • Getting stuck in corners
  • Pressing head to the ground.


Causes


  • Tumor
  • Water on the brain
  • Strokes or vascular accidents in the brain
  • Head trauma.
  • Inflammatory and infectious types of meningitis and encephalitis
  • Babasie spp. or Trypanosoma brucei
